Great to see two jockeys back after injury and duly win at Cheltenham! Christian Williams on Over The Creek for David Pipe and young Sam Jones who had a nasty fall at Towcester at the begininng of this month.

Sam won on Which Pocket at a nice 14/1 for Brendan Powell which will do his confidence the world of good. (that's Sam's not Brendan's!)

Great news to see Christian Williams win as well after about a year away from the track on the talented Over The Creek at 6/1.

Simon 2nd @ 16/1 and Monkerhostin 3rd @ 16/1both ran extremely well today.

I often wonder why he bothers with the rubbish he usually rides.Good to see him ride a winner at a big meeting.

Yes - and he put in a great finish. Hopefully he will get more rides now on better quality.
I very much doubt it; Kenny Whelan has been riding hairy novices for nigh on twenty years now ~ he's hardly going to start picking up championship class rides now, is he?

I expect he's much valiued for it by the trainers who use him too!

Thank god for my decent e/w on Simon today @ 16/1, not much else went right!
Quite happy with my current bets for the Gd Nat: Simon, Mr P, & Butler's C, might even top up...

Sorry to see Imprial commander run so poorly, but very glad to see Jack The Giant so resolute [also Fitzy LOL], he's a horse I've always liked since I watched him win at Warwick, big horse, should improve again

I couldnt believe the price that Simon went off at.

I only managed to have a quick look at the racing this morning and thought Simon would be a good EW bet.

Come back in tonight and he was 2nd, returned at 16/1.

Agreed.

Got mullered a couple of times by Model Son at the top of the hill, but for which he would have won.
It was one of those where if they had an extra 100-150 yards, im sure he would have got up.

I'm a big Simon fan as some of you might remember and I got some nice e/w today at 16/1. He was staying on well wasn't he? - I backed him for last year's Gd Nat and have got a nice bet on at 25 with BF for 2008 [also an e/w with PP]. If Simon, Mr Pointment, Butler's Cabin or Slim Pickins doesn't win the GN, provided they all get there, I'll be surprised :) and I've got a bit of e/w on all of them.

Would've loved him to win today so his owner/breeder could have the pleasure since as she said last year she might not make it far as GN day - let alone the horse! Next door's cat got quite a fright today as he came up the hill
