Chester Cup day tomorrow at my local track. Anybody and strong thoughts on a potential winner? Been glorious sunshine the last few days but no doubt will lash down as usual tomorrow.

Olympiad is the interesting one for me. Shouldn't really stay 2m+ based on his pedigree but won very nicely at York last season. He was disappointing in the Ces but 2m2f is a right old slog on the Rowley Mile and at Chester it's far more gettable. He's not well drawn but at 12s each way four places I think we can handle that.

Countrywide Flame looked to me like he'd had enough at Aintree and is a poor value market leader. Simenon I don't know why that is so short and Tominator was nowhere in the race last year.

Yeah definitely easier to get the trip at Chester as they're always on the turn and only really going flat out on the home straight. Looks to have a decent chance if he can get a good position which is half the battle in the Cup.

Olympiad was beaten before stamina became an issue at Newmarket, and it's more likely - considering the way he was backed - he just had an off day.
His Ascot Gold Cup entry suggests he's neither lacking in class or staying power, and with the ground in his favour, it's seems the car park draw may be his biggest obstacle. Well worth an e.w. punt at current odds though.

Countrywide Flame improved another 10lbs over hurdles this winter/spring. If he can translate that improvement back on the Flat he might just run this field into submission. I'm trying to decide if the 7/2 is value, though.

A few years ago, I went with a friend to the Tattersalls Sales, (not to buy just to see what all the fuss was about!) and we picked out about 15 horses indiviudally and a few "twinned". Two such horses were OLYMPIAD and JUSTIFICATION. Cant find the photo of OLYMPIAD but here is JUSTIFICATION

Needless to say that I will be having a small punt on each ;)

I'm surprised Buckland isn't shorter after his run last time, Buick is a good booking, it'll do for me.

A fiver e/w on INVESTISSEMENT for a bit of fun. Got plenty of good flat form, has the best stall position, and a lovely e/w price at 20/1 for a jumps yard that knows the time of day in these long distance flat races.

He absolutely flew home that's for sure.

Chester continues tomorrow and I fancy one in the 3.15 from trainer who had 2 winners and a second there today, Tom Dascombe's FAT GARY. Any rain that falls (it is forecast) will be to his advantage, a winner over 5f at this meeting last year he went on to run a decent 4th (of 4) behind the impressive Van Der Neer at Leicester (3rd has won off 85 recently). If he can break from his in-ideal draw (8/8) I think he'd have a great chance of making all. Visored 1st time tomorrow and bound to have been prepped for a big run here, 14/1 and 16/1 in places.

Mullins horse would of hacked up with a more prominent pitch round!

Agree - considering myself a bit unlucky there. If he'd even had a slightly more trouble-free passage he would've won easily. Still - he's proved he's more than competitive off his current mark and will be one to look out for next time. I wonder if he'll go for the ascot races again.
