General admission, which was £45 pre covid, now £60 or you can upgrade to the Winning Post enclosure for £130. Best stay home and watch ITV eh ? Me, I shall be watching Newton Abbot on SSR. Anyway, for those who want to discuss the three days racing here's your thread.

Tipperary Tiger 3.45
Needs to break well from box 9, but not the forlorn hope his 14/1 tag implies.

Almighwar's absence form the Chester Cup is as surprising [to me] as it is annoying.

There was no advance notice that he might be withdrawn for any reason and he was still 9/2 best when I checked last night, with no warning signs on the exchange.

I had a decent ante-post punt at 14/1 so was really looking forward to the race as it was 5lbs well in.

Oh well... better get my fvckin head back in the fvckin form...

Look no Further than....Not So Sleepy...Chucked in on NH ratings, up there with Sea Pigeon as one of the classier conscripts.

Duel purpose horses have a great record in this, he's a course winner, runs in the style well suited to the course....

He'll have them all off the bridle with 5 furlongs to go...

I bet Not So Sleepy at 8/1 yesterday and this is the first I've heard of the fav being a non runner. What's bad news for you is good news for me, this time anyway!

No the consolation race has been going for a wee while. There was certainly one in 2019 but that seems like years ago now! Maybe that was the first.

The Weekender isn't helping. In their past winners section they list the winners of the Cup.

As my mammy used to say, it's no loss what a frien' gets. :)

In the opener on Friday I'm generally surprised that they're going 11/2 Revich and I've taken a bite. I’ve had him in mind for this since his reappearance run in the Lincoln and he promised more when running on well after a slow start in the Spring Cup, which is strong form. Marquand looks a serious booking for the course specialist and he should be able to make just about all from the rails draw. I’ve taken the price and will go in again if it holds but I expect it to halve by Friday.

Automatic follow in. Didn't even bother reading your essay, I just took the 11/2.

Slight concerns about Ontario today. I took him on Tuesday (11/4) in a double with Dubai Fountain. I wouldn't have anticipated a price collapse as such but did expect him to shorten although my main motivation was to maximise what I had going on to him via the double.

Simon Rowlands subsequently put up DF on his ATR blog and last night he put up Ontario as well, which, as usual, caused it to go blue pretty much across the board but this morning it's back out to 11/4 generally and pink so there has to be a chance 'the lads' aren't getting involved.

I'm more than happy to let the bet ride but confidence is slightly dented for now.

If Yibir ends up winning it would be a result I could handle since I took it ante-post for the Derby before the Sandown trial but today my preference would be for Ontario to short-head him, miles clear of everything else

I think Yibir will come in to his own over much further...A real stayers pedigree!

St Leger horse..

I believe Crimewave is touching 18/1 so doesn't qualify for the long shot thread, but an interesting runner nevertheless, having won several races on the all weather at Lingfield. On the few occasions they tried him on turf he's finished third or fourth but ran well enough to think he may enjoy the turf given enough time to develop. I just feel the question mark over turf allows him to be potentially nicely handicapped on this going. He's a big price today. He can out run the odds.

I see on Twitter that's it's fresh ground on the rail today and the cutaway will be gone tonorrow. Could be a huge advantage in the first race.

Interesting withdrawal has caused Revich to shorten up (still 5s with Bet365 so I might go in again before they wisen up).

Brentford Hope was 4/1f but drawn 9. The new front three in the betting are drawn 1,2 and 3 respectively...

Revich I've had my eye on since last season.

Well argued case you make for him, DO.

If there's any justice in this game, you'd think being a course winner he has a great chance.

Re-the Cup... all Not So Sleepys best form on soft or heavy ground.

Is the ground firming up at Chester?

Gd-st or better and I'll be going against Not So Sleepy.
