I was thinking today,as in various places Happy Xmas War is Over , Last Christmas and Wonderful Chritmastime were blasted at me, that the Christmas pop record seems to be a thing of the past . When was the last new song that joined the pantheon of Slade and Roy Wood on a Christmas compilation ?

As for the worst - a runaway winner Mistletoe and Wine

Not sure really, i personally like Last Christmas and Merry Christmas Everyone, also like that Destiny's Child one (for some reason) as for the worst then it's got to go to The Darkness.

Martin

For me the one 'true class' piece of work is the Phil Spector Christmas Album.
'Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you'

The one that we play at home for all the wrong reasons is Dean Martin's 'Red Nosed Reindeer' because he seems to be totally pissed and disinterested during the recording and finishes it off by singing 'Rudolf the red DICK reindeer'. They don't make 'em like that any more!

I'll trump Ardross with Cliff Richard's Saviors Day, which is to all intents and purposes, a crime against humanity.

Quite like Greg Lake, don't like anything in the last ten years !

Like the man says they don't make 'em like they used to

Garney I forgot that monstrosity but then again it is so bad it does not seem to be played any more

And, strangely enough, i was actually thinking of that one where he sings "The Lords Prayer" or "The Our Father" as it is known in Ireland. You know, the one where old Harry draws the comparison between himself and God. Cant remember the name of the song, and happy about that fact.

I thought I'd never tire of "White Christmas" until my son and heir was allocated it for his school Christmas Concert.

It is the Millennium Prayer . I saw an album in Virgin today called the Best Christmas Album ever - an absolute scandal it included not merely the Millennium Prayer but the Ronan Keating version of Fairytale of New York . :(

I am off to listen to Shane and Kirsty

snap!!!!!!!!!! I detest the guy and his songs................. :P

Shadow tell your dad to get the peppermints in..................... brilliant I made a c-d of about 14 songs of his I downloaded from KAZAAR

Merlin....funnily enough, my Christmas plans don't involve spending time with my Dad, his bimbo & her brats!! I've got a cd of his too, bought it in Australia, it's pretty damn amusing, certainly beats the poor cassette recordings that I had before.

Shadow I think I had the same badly recorded cassette.......... :P :o

CRICKETFAN at least I have one fan to my pennings/thoughts ........ its having the ability to read between the lines which helps too, thanks.........
