Hello all,
I have been a lurker here for some time now but have decided to lift my head above the parapet. The knowledge on show here from the regular contributors is exceptional. I “know” Outsider and Yorick from another place.

I have a greater interest in the flat and all weather than NH. That said I love trying to solve the cryptic crossword that is Irish Racing!

I’ve only been studying for a comparatively short period of five or so years. From a punting perspective I look at form but my method is also to look at a lot of alternative resources for ideas and pointers. I pay attention to Giggsy here as well as Outsider who I consider to be top notch. I also really like Flat Cap Callum’s approach and honesty on YouTube (expect to lose most days but long term it pays).

I usually take into account all of the above as well as tipsters from OLBG who I follow for suggestions and then I cross check with Inform Racing where I subscribe to Ian Welch’s excellent ratings.

I have been fortunate that the above together with a degree of luck has borne fruit over the last 5 years enabling me to go to the next stage with fractional (think less than a hoof) in a number of syndicates.

I live by the somewhat confusing twin mantras of only betting what i can afford to lose, but also (from Clement Freud) that it has to be painful when you do lose! Balance those and you can’t go far wrong.

I appreciate that the above may be too formulaic for some, but for me it works, I am happy and grateful to be here.

Better to be born lucky than rich as my late Dad used to say!

Happy New Year all. Looking forward to 2025.
