I heard this on Terry Wogan's show this morning and thought I'd share it with yous.

A woman asked Brendan Behan to define the difference bewteen poetry and prose. He said:

"There was a young man called Macphee
Who worked for Ackles & Pollocks*
He went for a walk in the sea
And the water came up to his knees.

Now that's prose, missus. Another few inches of water and it would have been poetry..."

(*I'm transcribing it from podcast as I can't find the quote on the Net.)

He also wrote this about the Church of England...

"Away with your English religion,
And your baseless meaningless faith,
For the only rock it is built on,
Are the bollocks of Henry the Eighth.

Thanks for that. As you yourself say, no more than I've come to expect from you. And you lecture Euro on being abusive? Oh, the irony.

Are you going to be as rude to everyone on this forum if they express even a joking opinion (as this was) about historical figures? No, didn't think so.

Lighten up, Kri. Didn't you see the emoticons? Surely there's a difference between friendly banter and abuse.

If I've offended you then I apologise unreservedly. I'll try to remove the remark myself and if not maybe a mod can do so.

I saw the emoticons and thought they were just there to take the mickey anyway. I may be extra grumpacious as I've had a headache for four whole days, plus my first-ever nosebleed! Probably just a little brain tumour, nothing to get excited about. I'm sitting here looking like not just an overblown lush, but a deranged one at that, as I found a headband with magnetic discs on it which I'd forgotten about, and which is supposed to relieve headaches. The 'low level' pressure had gone to fairly 'high level' forehead-crushing by the time I got in, so I've stuck this on. Vair lovely it looks, too... :dork:

Brain tumours are a piece of cake. Trust me, you'll be fine with the NHS. The only problem was losing some hair but that grew back.
