why do we have the annual debate over the clocks changiing one hour ?
It was experimented a few years ago to leave them as they were and the Scots were up in arms at their subsequent inconvenience.

Why don't we just have a different time zone ? or am I missing something ?

Lines of longitude and all that,determine where we are in a 24 hour day.(i think)

East = FORWARD
WEST = BACKWARD

Out of interest Lee, who do you mean by "we"? Europe & Northern America put their clocks forward in the summer too - as do Australia in their summer season.

Surely it would lead to more problems than it is worth - after all, most people appreciate the clocks going backwards as the mornings aren't so dark. When the mornings are darker for longer it presents more of a problem, mainly safety-wise as children end up having to go to school in the dark. If it didn't get light until nearly 9am it would present a problem for many labour-intensive industries too, ie the racing world, farming world and probably building industries too.

We had this last night after the game (well some time after the game and when in the bar) as we thought we'd get an extra hour of drinking in which seemed very logical.

Now one question, when exactly do they go back?
