1) great stuff

2) bloody awful

or

3) just a pointless waste of space and excuse for another advertising campaign??

I'd be interested to see what other people think; as a confirmed Diet Coke addict my initial impression was "ugh, it's Coke Lite in a different can!" Coke Lite is pretty nasty stuff which is to be avoided at all costs unless the only alternatives are either no Diet Coke or, worse, Pepsi (or equivalent).

Having had a few more cans of it though it's starting to grow on me a bit, kind of like an acquired taste - it'll never replace my beloved Diet Coke in my affections though.

Which leads me to the most important question - is this a death sentence for Diet Coke??? :o :(

2) Bloody awful.

Can't stand it, it's bland. I'm liking diet cherry coke a lot though.

Coca Cola is awful but i`ll give this a try because Pepsi Max is the only soft drink i ever buy and Coke Zero is based on the same formula.

I'm glad I'm not the only one then Griffin!!

Funny you should say that Euro - it did remind me a bit of Pepsi Max which I will drink in the case of real dire straits - no Diet Coke or Coke Lite & a need for caffeine!!!

Pepsi Max Impersionation. Nice if you like Pepsi Max.

As a Diet Coke addict I would be distraught if this stuff replaced the Real Thing TM

I thought it was awful, I don't really drink coke anyway, only in a vodka or the morning after, when I have strange cravings for fizzy sugary pop! Much prefer Pepsi, and not the diet/pepsimax stuff either!

I like full-fat Pepsi MUCH more than any Coke, which is weak and characterless. I bought the Cherry Coke by mistake last week - bleccch!

The ingredient aspartame, the 'non-sugar sweetener' now in so many 'diet' drinks, supposedly healthy ones, too, is manufactured from wood alcohol, the same stuff that goes into paint stripper. In the USA, there's been a strong backlash against it (where billions of gallons of it gets drunk through both Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke, among dozens of other slurps) as it was felt it was linked to the stripping of the neural sheath, leading to multiple sclerosis. I haven't looked up anything recently on this, but drinking wood alcohol in small amounts at a time, but frequently and over a number of years, cannot do one's system much good.

I'm pretty sure time will tell that aspartame and its cohorts are destroying the universe. I stick by the maxim "sugar in the morning, sugar in the evening, sugar at supper time". And I like it in my coffee too :D

Am a Pespsi Max fan myself but have never heard of this Coke Zero stuff - don't think Bookers Cash & Carry have either, so below my radar.

However, in an effort to restrict my caffeine intake, I switched recently to caffeine free diet coke - and that took some getting used to - but weakened on my last visit to Bookers and picked up a case of Pepsi Max!

Caffeine-free????!!!! My aunt's been trying to get me to drink that muck for years now - she has finally realised that she's not getting anywhere & gets in a crate of 'proper' DC for me when I go down to stay with her now! The way I see it is that being caffeine-free pretty much defeats the object of the exercise - and that's before you consider that the stuff is vile.

But some of us, Dom, have learned to treat our bodies as our temples :P and are not members of the Instant Gratification society so prevalent in today's world.....

She said loftily..... B)

All coca cola or coke products are inventions of Satan - revolting and really bad for you.

I would dispute that.

I have seen the way in which coins can be cleaned using coke and I'd like to think that my stomach is being given a nice clean-up whenever I drink coke.

Correct simmo. Everything seems to be bad for these days, i was watching the news last night and one report had the blind cheek to say that if you spend too much time in the sun skin cancer is a possibility -  How i laughed.

Do you think the risk is increased if you are drinking coke at the same time?

I suppose before long, there will be calls in Parliament to refuse to treat the cancerous who've sunbathed too much, as there are thoughts that the ciggie-induced dying deserve what they get and that the fatties should suffocate in their own lard, because they over-stuffed themselves knowingly.

Julies, I take it you're becoming unbearably smug with the weight loss programme? :D My body, too, is treated like a temple. A temple to gluttony and sloth...

But in fifteen/twenty years time cancer treatments wont even include cemotherapy(spelling?)

There was a very interesting article about nanotechnology in last months National Geographic :

The main thing to know about nanotechnology is that it`s small. Really small. Nano is shorthand for nanometer, one-billionth of a metre: a distance so minute that comparing it to anything in the real world is a bit of a joke. This comma, for instance spans about half a million nanometers.

Nanotechnology matters because familiar materials begin to develop odd properties when they`re nanosize. Tear a piece of aluminium foil into tiny strips, and it will still behave like aluminium - even after the strips have become so small you need a microscope to see them. But keep chopping them smaller, and at some point - 20 to 30 nanometers, in this case - the pieces can explode. Not all nanosize materials change properties so usefully (there`s talk of adding nano-aluminium to rocket fuel), but the fact that some do is a boom.

Injected into a healthy mouse, nanoparticles of cadmium selenide glow when exposed to ultra violet light. Such quantum dots can seep into cancerous tumours and help surgeons find and excise sick cells without distrubing healthy ones.

Correct.I think its disgusting stuff but the wife loves it.She is very fond of saying that diet coke contains zero sugar etc.
It might have no sugar but what it does have is E951 or E 591 which has been linked to asthma, heart conditions, obesity and depression.
