OK. I got a new laptop from school and it came with Norton, which was deactivated. I activated it and ran live update, which took almost a day!! Since then, the computer loads up fine but I cannot open anything, be it IE, Word, the Control panel(so a system restore is not an option) etc.. Any ideas about how to solve this? I have tried deactivating Norton and restarting to no effect. I entered the set up menu at boot up but don't know what I am looking at there!!
As an aside, when I click on CRTL ALT DEL after clicking in IE, the process is running but not the application. It's driving me bonkers.
