I'm sure I read somewhere that it's possible to delete the long-winded wait while Microsoft's 'Welcome' comes up after logging on. Unfortunately, because I'm - in the words of a charming young man driving a toy car this week - 'a f***ing old c**t' (because I asked him what he was trying to do when nearly t-boning the car) - I can't recall where I read this info, and have looked through my various 'how to' books without success.

The 'Welcome' just sits there inanely for about a minute, which is too long a time to sit staring at it every time I switch on! I mean - that's sometimes an entire 10 minutes lost in a day! So if anyone could please tell me how I can shortcut the logging-in process and get rid of 'Welcome', I shall reward them with undying gratitude. :)

Blimey, gzy, that's brilliant! The method to remove the Welcome screen is indeed there among other gems. I'll play with that later on - there are quite a lot of fun things to try out, so if I'm gone for a few weeks, you'll know I slightly overdid the deletions! Very many thanks for your help. :)

1. Click the "Start" menu.
2. Select "Control Panel".
3. When the Control Panel appears, select "User Accounts".
4. When the "User Accounts" window appears, underneath "Or pick an account to change", click "Change the way users log on or off".
5. Uncheck "Use the Welcome Screen".
6. Click the "Apply Options" button.

Thanks, Phillippe. I'm never too sure if you're muckin' about, though, and about to consign my trusty system to cyber-oblivion! :brows:
