Ever since I set up my PC to act as a server to the XBox for file sharing etc it won't go to sleep. I rarely (never) use the XBox/PC link anyway it was just an experiment, I would like my PC to get a proper rest. Anyone any ideas.

I'm windows vista if that helps.

I've got the power management options set to kill the display after 10 mins (which it does) and let it sleep after 20 mins (no way) idle time but some Network setting must be overridding that.

Are there power managment options in the bios. They should over ride any power managment software issues.

It's good but it's not right. I've no power options relating to sleep on my PC. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I've found it. It's to do with a Vista Multimedia sharing option - Control Panel>Power Option>Change Plan Setting>Change advanced power setting>Multimedia setting>When Media sharing>Allow The Computer to sleep.

I'll find out in twenty minutes if it's right. Thanks Fungi008 from www.techsupportforum.com if it works.

Edit:

-on the BIOS of my machine I meant. I did check it out, honestly.
