Been finding concentration a tad difficult lately, going a bit dotty I guess. When I walk the dog I sometimes pass the time just calling horses names. For the jumps I was getting to 200 by the end of the walk, but now for this season flatties I struggle to get to 50. On the bright side, though, I can still do the walk :).

Anyway, having a desultory go today, with a couple of Shadwell runners leading the way.

Tafreej 3:20 Chester 3/1 atm.

Has been late getting going in both races this season, but finished strongly. Chester probably not the place for being well off the pace and I hope Cieron gets him moving.

KATHAB 4:00 Sandown 7/2 atm (drifted from 9/4 which I don’t like and I should cash out - I won’t, of course

Ran a good race into 3rd/6 in quite a strong race at York, despite running green. Some potential there, I think.

Jewel Maker 4:50 York 5/1 atm

Finished pretty much best of all last time at Beverley, despite being near stopped in his tracks just over 2f out and not getting a clear run. He would have finished a lot closer and looked ready to rock.

Admiral D 2:35 York 15/2 atm

Outsider has said it all!

Tafreej dwelt again, raced in rear, hampered on way through and finished quite strongly. Not a convincing excuse, though.

The others don’t even rate a mention - bad day.

Nil desperandum, mate.

I always think the flat season doesn't settle down until after Royal Ascot. So long as we can identify horses to note, the day's not wasted.
