I am a big fan of Postponed and he is a proper G1 horse and I suspect he will have too many gears for Simple Verse and Second Step - I am very doubtful that Arabian Queen will stay although she handled the track well when zooming round to win the Princess Elizabeth last year .

What I do not understand is why he is 10-11 and Found is 3-1 . She is rated 120 to his 124 and receives 5 lb. Although she was disappointing at the Curragh I think she stays really well and that 1m 4f is her best trip as shown by much the best performance of her life in the Breeders Cup .

She is value to beat him .

I see the RP is calling this a “fantastic Group 1.” That’s a bit like saying the Scottish Premiership is a fantastic league. If Carlsberg did Group 1s this would be the contents of the slops tray. Not a single runner with an OR of 126 and 3 of the eight on 110 or less. Since Postponed is the only one I have on a mark better than 126 he really has to win. The even money in a place or two is probably serious value to big hitters but include me out. I can’t think of anything I’d want in any other market either so I’m letting it go.

It is rather more competitive than some recent Coronation Cups - but true to say no Petite Etoile , Mill Reef , Roberto , Park Top or Triptych .

How far do you have him in front of Found, DO?

It's been a poor older horses' King George for a number of years now, and with much better prize money for the KG and the Arc later in the season, trainers seem reluctant to have their stars primed this early. The Lockinge is in much the same situation.

The King George is on the wrong track. If they had it at Newbury or York with their long straights you could possibly attract Order of St George and Vazirabad.

John Whitley's Computer Racing Form rated Postponed's win in last year's KG at 110. To put it in perspective, that's 2lbs behind Fire Fighting's figure three days later when third in a Goodwood handicap.

The best CRF figure achieved by Postponed last year was 121 for his Sandown second in April.

We have had very good horses running in the CC in recent years Cirrus des Aigles and Flintshire, SNA and Midday for example- but often it was a match or a one horse race with weak opposition .

I am still wondering how the terrible Queally managed to get Midday beaten in this race .

Jamie Spencer. Words fail me. He should be fined for that ride and the proceeds given to whoever backed his horse to place in that race. I hope he dies young.

8lbs

Today's ratings adjusted to 9-0:

Postponed 128
Found 123

He probably improved again there.

You want an evens/odds-on shot to win like that.

Any horse that beat Duramente is a proper gr1 horse, he didnt need to improve today.

Exceptionally impressive today especially after de Sousa trying to make Roseburg irrelevant . I think we know why he was odds on !

On the other hand Found did not look to handle the track all that well and there was a touch of wheelspin too - she is a fast ground horse but so is Postponed ! Simple Verse did not come down the hill well but she is a stayer . Second Step was not given the best of rides . AQ does not stay but she was beaten well before the 2 pole . It is increasingly baffling how AQ and Found managed to beat Golden Horn .

Found will be better on better ground for sure and was possibly lucky to take GH at end of season.
Still a group 1 performer.
The winner just keeps improving and will be a match for anything as he is so so straight forward.
