I think you’d enjoy it if you went. It just is more accessible in that you’re not really confined like you are on a Rules racecourse plus you see emerging talent certainly in the jockeys ranks as it’s a much quieter environment for them to learn from their mistakes. For example, Rian Corcoran who will probably win the Novice title this year, we gave our Wessex rising star award to last year. Although he’s only 17, he rides like a pro in comparison. He had a spell over at Ballydoyle in the summer too, riding out amongst others, The Lion in Winter. But aware from the glare of publicity, he can make mistakes as anyone can at that age, and not get pulverised for it. Take last Saturday, he was riding one for David Pipe in Fighter Allen in the Open. Only one other opponent and it ended up a dead heat. Now he should have won but inexperience meant he was looking round and his mount just idled. He still won but I am sure his boss had a quiet word and he will learn from that. Had it been under Rules, he would have been slaughtered on social media.
