Newbury Saturday Spring Mile

Metal Merchant 20/1 5 places

Won this race last season off 91 on gd/sft beat Godwinson won the Lincoln this season, next time out ran over the mile here 2nd off 96 on decent ground to Sonny Liston lots of respectable runs after including a 7th in the Royal Hunt Cup but was 2nd on the wrong side that day,that race was far better than Saturdays on quality,.Looks abit exposed now off 97 lots of unexposed 4yr olds in the race which you are guessing on,the runners heading the market have better soft ground form than their fast ground form so hard to know if they will be equally as good on faster ground on Saturday..You'd expect a couple to improve past it,but it's guessing and the 20/1 presuming it runs should be nearer 10-12/1 on known form on ground that will probably be gd/gdfm or even good.Other more speculative picks purely going on trainer are Son and Classic trained by Hannon,a race that he used to aim at most seasons..
