Probably one of the most famous Grand National fatalities but can someone help me out with something I can't remember which is a headwrecker...

Who trained him in Ireland? Before he went to Gordon Richards.

J R ( Bunny )Cox was the man.

Trained in CO Louth.
A vet who qualified with my father in 1949 he was a tip top amatuer who married Aubrey Brabazon's daughter Sally if memory serves.

Dark Ivy and Winter Rain are the two National fatalities that really upset me. I thought both were stone cold certainties and backed both much more heavily, relatively speaking, than just about anything I've backed since bar Rooster Booster.

In the book The Boss by John Budden it relates the story of how Dark Ivy came to England in Chapter 17. The BBC preliminaries had a lovely piece on him at Greystoke and so sad he lost his life through being unsighted at Bechers.
