Sure, like a lot of people involved in the conflict, he had a shady past [and there are stories out there waiting to be told] but he put it behind him to be an example. The commendable aspects of the agenda of an organisation like the PUP was always going to ensure that they were periphery figures in the North. But they had their hearts in the right place for their communities.
