2:30 Queen Mary
Not a clue. The only sure thing is that a middle to high draw seems essential. On that basis MIDNIGHT AFFAIR and GOT TO LOVE A GREY are the only two (from the few I recognise) who might have something about them. It’s a bran tub race, really.
3:05 Kensington Palace
Just as bad. I thought TARRABB might have something about her after a long absence. She was fairly easily beaten last season by CRYSTAL CAPRICE who was a disappointing favourite up at Ayr in a Listed race. She’s dropped back to a mile now and she should be better for it. Interesting that Frankie has stayed with Beckett’s TARARAMA and equally interesting that Gosden’s have gone for Oisin Murphy as his replacement on LADY EROS - must tell the trained mind something I suppose, but God knows what.
3:40 Duke of Cambridge
Can’t raise much enthusiasm for this one, either. Frankie stays with Beckett runner again - Gosden’s bring in Jamie Spencer this time. On the basis that Frankie is trying to get out with a bang, maybe PROSPEROUS VOYAGE will go for him. Otherwise, JUMBLY has a 1,250,000 guinea bill to pay off.
4:20 Prince of Wales
Think this is between ADYAR and LUXEMBOURG albeit that it seems close between all of them ( know nothing of CLASSIC CAUSEWAY). BAY BRIDGE was a tad unlucky against LUXEMBOURG last time at the Curragh, but I don’t think he will gain revenge.
5:00 Royal Hunt Cup
This is full of old favourites any one of whom could pull the rabbit out of a hat if all went swimmingly, but the stand out for me is AWAAL who ran a cracker in the Lincoln. Goodness knows what happened next time in France, but I’ll happily ignore it!! Perm any one from POSITIVE, INTELLOGENT, JIMI HENDRIX, ATRIUM, ORBAAN if I can’t resist another bet.
5:35 Queen’s Vase
I can’t see past GREGORY in this, but if I have to then I’ll add in ST VINCENT’S GARDEN
6:10 Windsor Castle
Back to where we started with no clue. I’d like to see success for Alice Haynes and I quite like the look of MAXIMUM IMPACT to give it her.
