A bad day three, Al Asifah was a huge disappointment (and costly), shuffled towards the back, but well positioned round the turn and looked to be coming to win her race. Could not follow through, so maybe didn’t stay the extra distance. There was no place money from the placers but money back on a few. Rhoscolyn was 23rd so today wasn’t the day, another few pounds off and THE day can’t be far away.
1. Elite Status (American Rascal)
2. Bertinelli (Perfuse)
3. Al Asifah (Al Asifah)
4. Subjectivist (Coltrane)
5. Bless
6. Bold Act (Caernarfon)
7. Montassib (Rhoscolyn)
So on to tomorrow where I’ve no really any great conviction in anything.
2:30 - 6f Albany Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
The best of the home team looks like SOPRANO and JABAARA, but the Irish raiders may steal the show . Unfortunately, I know bugger all about them.
3:05 - 6f Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (No Geldings) (Class 1) (3yo)
LITTLE BIG BEAR is the class horse in this, I think, but I hope NOBLE STYLE last run was more a prep than disappointing last time, although Buick has deserted him and Appleby’ s team don’t seem to be firing on all four at the moment. (Almost talked myself out of it with that). I will be annoyed if MARBAAN wins it.
3:40 - 1m4f (1m3f211y) Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)
Although, he’s up in class AIMERIC won well at Doncaster from off the pace despite getting a bit tangled up in traffic and I think he might do well in this. It’ll be hard to resist dear old AJERO.
4:20 - 1m (7f213y) (Rnd) Coronation Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
Can’t see past TAHIYRA, but she’ll be no price.
5:00 - 1m (Str) Sandringham Stakes (Handicap) (Fillies) (Class 2) (3yo 0-105)
There’s an amazing number of handicap debutantes in this with the down in class, but only one up in distance (only by 1 furlong so not a full qualifier). I’m going to give her an each way chance, though : MAGICAL SUNSET
5:35 - 1m4f (1m3f211y) King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (3yo)
Can’t see past the Derby second KING OF STEEL, although I would hope ARREST is actually a much better horse than he showed that day.
6:10 - 5f Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo 0-105)
I really have no idea, but I’ll go with Boughey’s CONQUISTADOR who actually gets weight from a couple he’s beaten before and looks as though he might have been reserved for this .
