Ok, very few people will know who I am on about, but everyone will know at least one of her pieces of work.

She was the co-writer of classic horror film Halloween along with John Carpenter, which gave life to screen maniac Michael Myers.

She also helped write Escape From New York and The Fog, again with John Carpenter.

Halloween became the most successful independant movie of all-time upon its release and grossed a massive $60,000,000 at the box office. It was shot in 21 days and remains scary even to this day.

Debra was fighting cancer but lost her battle. She was only 54.

Yes, it's a shame.

I remember watching the making of Halloween and Debra Hill begged an Asian-American businessman (Moustapha Akaad), with no connection to the film industry, to put up the money to make the film, which he did reluctantly (according to his interview). He put up $300,000 and as stated earlier in my post, the film made $60 million.

It was also Debra Hill who cast Jamie Lee Curtis in the film, her first screen role.
