There was a `58 on sale at the one of the vendors during the Festival. If Darkness had won the SA i may have bought it, they were asking for £48.Originally posted by Venusian@Mar 28 2006, 08:08 PM
That is almost unbelievable.
I've got a '53, a '54 and a '57 - what would they be worth?!
For anyone remotely interested, I took the book into Bonhams in Bond Street during the week for a valuation and they are extremely interested, infact they sort of wrestled the book off of me. It is going into a specialist book auction in the summer, and I can't wait as I have never been to an auction before (apart from horses and cars) so it will be a new experience for me. It will go into a catalogue which will be sent to their "oversea's buyers" about 4 weeks before the auction takes place. And to think I originally put it on Ebay with a reserve of £50.00  It still may not sell, and I will still get lumbered with the auctioneers commission fee but win or lose, it is still an experience I am really looking forward to.Originally posted by Kathy@Mar 28 2006, 08:28 PM
Remarkable.
Slightly off subject, but still to do with sale of books on Ebay I put a book on recently for a reserve of £50.00 then decided to do some research on the internet as it is a fairly old book but NOT a first edition. To my total and utter amazement I found that one of the prints from the book (same edition) is on sale in the USA for US Dollars 7000.00! This book contains over 48 prints. Luckily, no one had bid when I realised my error and I was able to up my reserve and then withdraw the book. Suffice to say, I am off to have the book proffessionally valued next week - just in case.
