In an extraordinary display of solidarity since the attacks, hundreds of people from arouind the world have been inundating a London website with images emblazoned with the words "we are not afraid".

The site ws the idea of web designer Alfie Denen and he had the idea on Thursday, not long after the bombs went off when he posted a mobile-phone photo from a friend taked just outside one of the bombed tube stations. Within hours images were coming in from all over the world.

He now has a backlog of thousands of messages to post. The site is well worth a look: We're Not Afraid

Terrific, Brian. Very, very uplifting, and just the right tone: I like the Boy Scouts. Alert, ever. Afraid? Never! Good on them all.

One of my favourites is Yoda - "Afraid we are not!"

Not much gets me going but this did today. The site is so busy at the moment uploading thousands of messages that it can't be accessed. At one stage I made the error of putting in werenotafraid.co.uk instead of .com.

I was amazed to find it had been registered by someone calling themselves Wirral Website advertising their business which appears to be yet another of those online "yellow pages" sites for locally based businesses. I know nothing about this one but from my experience many of the sales people at these operations half con employees of busineses into subscribing. That's as maybe but what upset me was the blatant hijacking of the name of Alfie Dennen's site. So I sent them the following emil, to which I'm not expecting an answer:

"Just to let you know that I think that you are a load of major arseholes for taking the werenotafraid name to promote a commercial operation. I'm sure that the people all over the world who are adding the suffix .co.uk instead of .com are really interested in searching out businesses in the bloody Wirral.

I hope that your management skills are on a par with your ethics which will mean that your business, unlike the spirit of those in London to whom the original site is devoted, will be very short-lived. Then you can go back to stealing hub-caps.

Brian Hartigan"

Not that I would encourage anyone to pester them but if anyone has need of their services then they can be contacted on:

No, Tom, pay attention. There are no ulterior motives on the original site werenotafraid.com. It's just that those other bastards have set up werenotafraid.co.uk to advertise their business.
