Dont do it mate, record all the episodes and when it`s over watch seasons 5 & 6 one after the other, that`s the way i`ve always done it.

Are you sure its the final series Brian? There's eight more episodes commissioned, as far as I know. In fact I'm certain it's four, six or eight!

I wonder who's gonna get wasted this time round? Surely not Big Tone? Uncle Junior is clearly going even more doolally, so perhaps he'll be consigned to Sunny Pines Home of Rest for the Terminally Bewildered, and I just wonder whether we'll see Carmela making a move out of domestic bliss now the kids are getting into adulthood? Gosh, I can hardly wait-a...

Yes, Euronymous has it - it's the final series but split into two parts.

Just so we have the final score on this: that's 12 episodes during the rest of 2006, and 8 during 2007? That's 20 episodes, unless anyone has an advance on that?

:D It's not often I can manage past tricky numbers like 17 without a calculator! Good news - 20 fabulosa episodes to look forward to. Must remember to stock up on lasagne, calamari, pizza and Chianti for authentic nights in.

A heads up on the plot line.

Tony and the boys move a numbers operation into Cardiff. They wipe out all opposition - nearly. This 11 year old kid has been running numbers for the Taffia, and when his capo gets rubbed out he decides he aint gonna take anymore....

Tell me! We've got two married residents in Crumbly Towers with it, slowly turning into people their spouses don't know any more; and Mother's nursing home contains more Alzheimer's and dementia residents than anyone she can hold a conversation with. In fact, it looks to me that's the main reason why old folks are in care, rather than the physical inability to look after themselves safely at home. She's tried to chat to a couple - one no longer talks at all, but plays with a soft toy who she 'introduced' to Mother, the other seemed to be on song until she mentioned going up to London the day before, to lunch with Margot Fonteyn. :(

Provided I've still got a few brain cells functioning well enough to accomplish the deed, there's no way I'm hanging around to die off bit by bit. I've had the preview of forthcoming attractions, and they're mostly horror films! And that said, I'm off to another funeral next week - one of our most fit-looking, cheerful, outgoing newer residents just dropped dead from a heart attack, in his early 60s. He was my companion for my day at Royal Ascot - he loved every minute, and made a nice little bundle on his bets (and told me he didn't know one end of a horse from another!). So you get a choice - you're beginning to enjoy the freedoms of what you think is a healthy retirement and you're cut down, or you blither on peeing your pants and not recognising your own kids for 15 years. Luvverly!

I found this series quite disappointing to be honest. Or, to be more accurate, starts well...and then drags along before getting interesting at the end leaving you crying out for more. You may disagree though.

Hey, let's see you get shot by your demented uncle, just after you've kindly prepared him his supper, and call it 'interesting'! I suppose a bit of scene-setting, since the long hiatus after the last series, had to be done. I wish Dr Melfi didn't have such a thin, querulous voice, though - I'd need counselling after visiting her a few times.
