I can find archive footage of a game show from @ the early/mid 80's?

The 'game show' in question was (I beleive) a one off series featuring celebrities and the general public. It was introduced by Brough Scott and the Celebrities included Derek Thompson,Peter Davidson,Suzanne Dando,Sally James (Tiswas) and various others who I have forgotten.

I'm not sure on the concept but I think it was a driving challenge and thats where my interest lies.

My father appeared in it when the production came to the army camp where we were based at the time (Bovington Camp,Dorset) and the contestants were involved in driving tanks in the simulator.

I would dearly love a copy of that episode but don't really know where to start,I have tried a few TV based websites and google but no luck.

Any info or links would be appreciated.Thanks,BW.

Assuming it was produced by the Beeb, BW, try contacting them directly on 0370 010 0222 or writing to them at BBC Information, P O Box 1922, Glasgow, G2 3WT.

If it was ITV (England/Wales), try e-mailing at viewerservices@itv.com or phoning on 0844 881 4150.

Hope they can help you.

PS: or get in touch with Brough Scott, and see if he's got an archive copy he could copy for you. He's Chairman of the Injured Jockeys' Fund, so I imagine a call to them at 01638 662246, asking to forward your request to him, might prove fruitful. Particularly if you offered him a wee donation for their funds for the copy.

Thanks Kri. I have emailed ITV so hopefully they may be able to supply some info or, hope beyond hope, a copy. If that fails I'll try Mr Scott.
This would make my Mothers Christmas if I could pull this off. Its a longshot but they have been known to win;)

Best of luck BW, but I'd still settle for a Sally James as a Christmas present!

Thanks,I haven't seen her for a while so don't know how well she's weathered;) but one of the other contestants was Suzanne Danielle (Sam Torrance's wife) and she could pull my cracker any day:<3:

Thanks walsworth,thats great.

I received a reply from ITV with another website but have had no luck. Email was as follows:

Thank for your email regarding old ITV programmes.

All our programme information is kept under the title of the programme and we cannot search by content and we only keep details of programmes up to 10 years old.

For archive material please go to the following website: www.itnsource.com which I hope is of help.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to contact us here at ITV as we always welcome viewers’ feedback.

Having spent about 2 hours searching that site I came up with zilch! I think its highly unlikely that there will be any footage of this show so have decided to give it up as a loss.I can't really see Brough Scott having a copy of this,it wasn't exactly memorable.

Thanks for both your efforts.

Well, you never know what people keep - and possibly forget they've done so. If he's like my cousin's husband, he's still got an unused, still-boxed house security system which they brought back from South Africa 24 years ago, and all of the car racing magazines he had in the 1970s. The security system might 'still come in handy' and the magazines represent many happy years, even if they do take up half a room, and haven't been looked at for three decades.
