Don’t back drifters is a mantra that was hammered into me when I were but a lad. With the impetuosity of youth I mostly ignored the advice until I finally conceded that the win rate for my drifters was tiny and in no way compensated for the losses from the drifters overall. Resisting the siren call of a “better price” didn’t come easy and even now, over fifty years on, I still feel the tug to add to my bet when something I really fancy is on the drift.
I am mostly taking an opening shot at the early price, if it shortens I will generally make it up into a full bet, otherwise I let it stand. Well, that’s what I do if I stick to my rules anyway
