Gone But Not Forgotten
Just a quick note to say I have added the donate button back to the forum (in green just above the adverts). I have been asked to a few times by people, but since the forums were upgraded the code wasn't working, so I've fixed that this week while I've been doing other things on the site.
There is a long thread here for anyone who missed it last year explaining the donations and what they are used for. The thread is pretty much current still, apart from vBulletin 4 is now running and what you are using, which personally I think is much better and faster, and haven't had any complaints about. Thanks in advance for anyone who donates and thanks again to those who donated last year.
I'm not 100% sure if all the features have been carried over from the previous version, but I have made sure the main block of adverts have been removed which I think is the main difference for people, and I think the other features should have carried over. If anyone who donated in the past can still see the adverts please pm me and I will check to see why.
On another note, just wanted to say, at a time when a lot of forums in most subjects are dying out, these past 2 weeks have been the busiest we have been in 16 years. 4 times we have broke the record for the number of users online (even accounting for the change in the way they are calculated, which was done over 6 months ago) with over 200 people online at one point a couple of days back. Considering our relatively small membership numbers, that is an amazing amount of people to be online all at the same time. I certainly cant remember the forums having such a buzz about them, and usually while the festival is on, we are quiet, but suppose the widespread use of smartphones allows people to access from anywhere now, which is a good thing
Most the week I've been doing stuff to the site, mainly little tweaks just to keep it running faster, but most will have seen the chat box, its been used quite well, so will probably pop it on when there are other big meetings. It uses too much bandwidth to have on 24/7, and I'm not entirely sure it would be a good thing anyway.
I've also redesigned the front page of the forum which isn't finished yet, but is still 100 times better than what I had up before, which was meant to be temporary, over a year ago when I did it!
Thanks to everyone who uses the forum and makes it the success it is today
