Not one of my favourite meetings, but one or two of interest.
2:25 Utilis - I thought he was up for it on his debut handicap at York, albeit 40/1, but he had a troubled run in the hurly burly of eighteen runners. Hurdled the path after the start which lit him up a bit, pushed into the back of the pack and had to retreat into last. Made progress from two out - not an easy task - and finished still full of running. The extra furlong will be no trouble. Runs off an unchanged mark. 12/1 atm I’d like to see some strengthening.
4:10 Equilateral - there were no excuses for his Curragh defeat, he just wasn’t good enough. Then he disappointed at Goodwood last time. Been running in Groups 1 and 2 and down in class to Listed here. I’m tempted to give him another chance but, again, I’d like to see strengthening market support. 5/2 atm.
4:45 Impulsive Reaction - quite well supported on his handicap debut here last time. He had a troubled run and finished pretty strongly, albeit in the pack, to seventh and only two lengths away from the winner. 13/2 atm.
