I'm looking for a dongle for my laptop. It's only for very occasional use so I've been looking at Pay As You Go. The ones I've looked at it seems that the data usage which you buy in advance is only valid for 30 days. I'm unlikely to use it all and don't really want to pay for something I won't use. Does anyone more familiar with these matters know if it's possible to just buy a dongle and buy some credit for it which doesn't have a time limit on it?

A friend of mine has one from Vodafone that does not expire, but when he went to buy one for his wife he found they no longer supply that particular item. I don't think he found any, but I'll ask him at the weekend.

three do a dongle pre loaded with 12gb that lasts a year for around £79, or Comet have a 2 year one with 24gb reduced to £99.99 at the moment. Obviously that only works out at around £4 a month. Product code is 509426

depending on your useage, o2 do a 200mb deal for 1 day for £2, which if, for example you only used it a couple of times a month, might be a good deal.

You also have to make sure the dongle will receive the signal in the area(s) in which you intend to use it. I can't use one where the flat is.

One thing that I have found with my T-Mobile dongle is that I have to remember to disable the internal wireless modem every time I start the notebook, otherwise I get disconnected quite frequently. This seems to be quite a common problem but not well documented.
