By Graham Green 5:11PM 6 JUN 2010
CONCERN over the wellbeing of racing commentator Doug Fraser was mounting on Sunday night, more than 24 hours after his failure to turn up to work at Hexham.

Police broke into Fraser's flat in Leeds on Saturday evening after being contacted by RaceTech chief executive Brad Higgins, amid widespread alarm among friends and colleagues unable to contact him.
There was no sign of him at home, but his car was parked outside.
The apparent disappearance of Fraser, whose voice is well-known across the sport through his racecourse, betting shop, TV and radio work, is being treated as a missing person investigation by West Yorkshire Police.
The force's duty inspector said: "Inquiries are ongoing."
The unexplained absence of Fraser from Hexham on Saturday immediately aroused unease among his workmates as it appeared totally out of character.
Higgins said: "If he was ill, there's a procedure in place where we, or he, arranges cover, but that just didn't happen, and when he didn't turn up and we weren't able to locate him, that's when we decided to contact the police."

You would think that ATR, and The Racing Post would put up a picture so people new whe they were looking for, They say no news is good news, lets hope so.

A little more info this morning

Nobody has been able to contact Fraser since last Thursday, and the alarm was raised following his unexplained failure to turn up to commentate at Hexham on Saturday.
Police were alerted by RaceTech chief executive Brad Higgins and broke into Fraser's flat in Leeds city centre where they are believed to have found his wallet, passport and mobile phone. His car was parked outside.
Colleagues have been left stunned by the disappearance of Fraser who, while widely described as "a private man", is a highly popular individual.
He is not thought to have been depressed or to have had financial problems.
Police, despite numerous inquiries, have so far drawn a blank and admit they are becoming increasingly concernedfor Fraser's welfare as he has never been missing before.
As part of the appeal for information, Fraser is described as around 6ft tall, of medium build, with green eyes and bald with receding black-grey hair at the sides.
Anyone with information is asked to contact City and Holbeck police station on 08456 060606.

If you're a 'private man' you're not going to discuss personal issues with colleagues, are you? I hope he's still alive and that if he's had some sort of distressing personal incident, he can be helped before he harms himself.

I have not seen this confirmed by any news outlet but someone has posted on FF that his body has been found in the river.

POLICE searching for missing racing commentator Doug Fraser have found a body in a river in Leeds.
The search for Fraser, 54, began on Sunday, June 6, the day after he failed to turn up for a commentary shift at Hexham.
A spokesman for City and Holbeck Police said on Monday: "On Sunday afternoon around 4pm, police searching forGeorge Douglas Fraser recovered a body from the River Aire in Leeds.

"The body was recovered from the river close to the Millennium foot bridge.
"A positive identification is due to take place on Wednesday, June 16 as part of the post mortem."
Police divers started searching the River Aire, close to Fraser's flat, on Tuesday, while the inquiry also involved checks to see if his credit cards had been used and inspection ofCCTV footage.
Fraser was last seen on CCTV leaving his home in Leeds city centre, where he lived alone, at 2am on Friday, June 4, and there had been no trace of him since. He was last heard from on the preceding Thursday when he sent a text message to friend Richard Wade.

I saw the underwater search team there. It has been a bad few months for that stretch of river.
