Police broke into Fraser's flat in Leeds on Saturday evening after being contacted by RaceTech chief executive Brad Higgins, amid widespread alarm among friends and colleagues unable to contact him.
There was no sign of him at home, but his car was parked outside.
The apparent disappearance of Fraser, whose voice is well-known across the sport through his racecourse, betting shop, TV and radio work, is being treated as a missing person investigation by West Yorkshire Police.
The force's duty inspector said: "Inquiries are ongoing."
The unexplained absence of Fraser from Hexham on Saturday immediately aroused unease among his workmates as it appeared totally out of character.
Higgins said: "If he was ill, there's a procedure in place where we, or he, arranges cover, but that just didn't happen, and when he didn't turn up and we weren't able to locate him, that's when we decided to contact the police."
