The train service is very good between Belfast and Dublin, the Enterprise takes about 2 hours and fares are just over £20 first class - return trip from Dublin is about 20% cheaper. Its also a pretty relaxing journey.
I've down a few trips into Dublin this way and its easy enough to get anywhere in the city from Heuston station.
