I am trying to book a hotel room in Edinburgh next Saturday.

Hotels.com - nothing available
Lastminute.com - nothing available
Individual hotel (e.g. Malmaison) - nothing available

Did I miss something?

No major event in Edinburgh next weekend that I'm aware of, BM.

The town is starting to crank up with tourists the last couple of weeks, so a lot of block bookings might be in place - you might want to consider phoning hotels direct.

There was a report on local TV recently that Scotland's hotels are over 90% booked for the summer. It seems people aren't going abroad this year.

A day's ringing around and no joy. Looks like the Heineken cup final and some Party at the Palace have scuppered the best laid (if slightly tardy) plans.

Any ideas on a European city break for next Saturday night, close enough to get there and back on the Sat/Sun?

Eurostar is fully booked, flight prices are jacked up. Shambles.

Ever regret making a promise!

Paris for the Grand-Steeplechase De Paris would be a good gig Betsmate - I'm doing it myself in one day (early Sunday flight and 8pm return to Heathrow). Plenty of things to do on the Saturday and places to see. Easy enough to find somewhere a bit out of Paris (La Defense we stayed in last November). From LD it's only about 15 minutes into the centre of Paris and plenty to do and see around there shops wise.

Paris is the safety net option - but the prices for this weekend are much higher than I've paid many times in the past (I think I've lived in Yorkshire for too long!).

Offset flight, hotel and Grade 1 entrance costs with the fact that it will cost you fahrcall to enjoy the fare at Auteuil, betsmate.

Id offer to put you up for the weekend if it wasnt for your chronic drug problem.....tendancy to steal things, violent temper and tourettes. Other than that your a grand chap.

:D @ Simmo and Del Boy.

I've been to Belfast and was impressed. When it came to Giants Causeway though I preferred the horse.
