Won by a gelding. You've got to wonder what kind of tool didn't make the entry conditions for the trial the same as that for the Derby i.e. Entires only. :blink:

Good result for Dyaln Thomas though.
 
Good piece of placing by the trainer. I'd say he fell over when he saw the conditions allowed it to run.
 
Very good placing - he's quite canny that way. Not a bad day out for a £31k prize for the horse....

ETA - he cost just £16.5k as a yearling too at Tatts

Entire 3yo colts and fillies for the Derby. Geldings are excluded from the classics but can run in the majority of other British Flat Pattern, Group and Listed races, including Classic trials, apart from fillies only pattern races for instance. Geldings aren't excluded from running in such races.

Geldings are allowed to run in the classic trials though, apart from those restricted to fillies.
