He was a real favourite of mine. It's sad but nice that he just died curled up in a field.

I backed him the year Cyborgo took him out. I was convinced he'd win. I was just as convinced the next year when he was dismissed by many but looked utterly fantastic in the pre parade ring. The winnings were nice, but seeing him win was even better! Gutted that he didn't have have another chance in 2000 (Istabraq as well)

(Part of my job in those days was to ring up trainers who were in a restricted zone and tell them they couldn't run horses from there anymore...fun times. Not. We knew about Cheltenham before anyone else obviously but it seems to me that there was a huge sense of resignation about the whole thing, we just focused on Sandown instead. Worked hard.)
