Sixteen Letter was sadly pts today at Badbury Rings Point to Point after breaking a leg. I know most of you don't know the horse as he was a pointer but he ran in a few hunter chases (winning 2) notably the Aintree Foxhunters in 2023 when he had a humdinger of a fall - the only other time he fell in his life. He won 14 times pointing which was remarkable as he had a chronic win problem which they were unable to operate on due to his throat anatomy. So the fact that they managed to win so many with him was down to his genuine character.

Trained by Josh Newman and his wife Kayley Woollacott, I imagine Josh would have given every winner he's ridden this season (he's currently clear in the men's title) for this not to have happened. I have never seen a groom so devastated either especially as the horse (who looked fantastic in the paddock) was challenging when he came down.
