Even though I am in Australia, and I am sure some of you are surprised I would know anything about Eurovision, I am actually a huge fan of it. Have been watching it for over
Was checking out some articles on it recently, and noticed a couple of interesting things:
* Austria will not be represented in the competition in 2006, a first for some time. Quite understandable too, that crap that they had last year with Global Kryner singing a Latin Inspired version of "Y Asi." was attrocious. It certainly did not *inspire* me.
* Armenia will make its debut in 2006 at the competition. If history can be something to go by re: semi finals they could have a chance of getting into the final, based on Moldova's result in 2005. Moldova's group Zoob Si Zoub singing "Boonika Bate Dobe" made their first appearance at Eurovision and finished in the top of the pack. I have never been into punk, but this group actually won me over.
* Albania again have to go through the semi-final stage, and this year will be represented for the first time by a male contestant. Hopefully he can improve on that ridiculous model turned singer Ledina Cellu's performance, which saw her finish last in 2005, some song called Tomorrow I Come. I am still trying to work out that song, because we had some thing about beating the drum one moment and the next moment about screaming. 2004 Albania made its debut and actually had a really good choice, a nice upbeat styled song "The Image of You."
And I hope based on the past two previous years, either Romania, Norway or Serbia/Montenegro wins in 2006.
