Eurovision

My tips: Serbia, Greece, Cyprus, Bosnia and Switzerland for top 5 positions.

Serbia deserving to win. Its actually a fantastic song, and the country voting will put it into a good position of achieving Serbia (now an independent nation) its first win.

I'm told the smart money is on Iceland at 66/1. Must come thorugh the semi-final which is a positive.

It may be the Banded class of entertainment, Dom, but as you know, there was money to be made out of that, too!

Money to be made is one thing - actually wasting time discussing the tripe is another thing altogether Aunty Jon!

Does anyone truly give a shite about this crap??

I thought we had a thread for what annoys you? Given that the BBC all but bank roll the whole sham, having to pay more than any other broadcaster to systematically voted out by a block of Balkans or Baltics every year I wish we'd follow the example of the more culturally astute Italians.

Having said, that  I've seen Italian television. Make that artistcally more astute :)

Eurovision is great fun. I think Scooch have a fine chance with their slice of super cheesy pop.

I trust I won't find you discussing the merits of the next boatload of Big Brother contenders, Shadow, after that little outburst? Surely not...

Cancelling Dr Who for this bunch of SHITE

Its a load of shite, just as the BBC SPOTY is every year. Some of us including yourself like to bet on shite.

Well well well, just read this.................

Punters all over Europe have sparked one of the biggest Eurovision gambles in the history of the programmed, with thousands of bets being placed on the Ukraine to win in the last forty eight hours.

As a result bookies William Hill have slashed the price of ‘Verka’ winning from an original quote of 33/1 to 9/2 favourite. “The Ukraine entry needs to be seen to be believed and only in the Eurovision could ‘Verka’ ever stand a chance.

Turnover has exceeded all our expectations and we are confident that £1 million will be bet on the outcome and can only hope that the Ukraine fail to dazzle on the night,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

The UK entry Scooch is a 25/1 outsider to win the competition with Hills offering 3/1 that they finish last, 16/1 that Scooch fail to score a point and 7/4 that the UK finish in the bottom four.

UKRAINE To Win then.

I think Serbia will be tough to beat and they would have been shorter but for the Ukraine plunge. I will have a few quid.

Watching how the Ukraine score will be interesting. The song is clearly anti-Russian and it will be a sign of the times if many of the old Soviet Republic states are bold enough to give it is their full support married with a full-blown snub of the rather drab Russian effort.

I am not sure that this will be the case though. The Russians are 6/4 for a top 4 finish and I think that is a fair price. They have a good recent record and I imagine they will pick up a few conciliatory votes from their neighbours who don't want to be seen as entirely allied with the Ukrainians.

A quick spin through google, and I've decided the pain killer route isn't ideal. Carbon Monoxide is starting to appeal however.

I loved the French entry. That man pratting about singing to a stuffed cat on his shoulder

Well if this sort of thing is supposed to be the price for keeping the peace in Europe, then I'm quite prepared to rip up the Treaties of Paris.

Oh my God our shite's just appeared.

Oh christ this is humiliating. cry I'm absolutely lost for words.

Surely this sort of thing must be a breach of human rights or something. I must confess to having gone to Helskinki (en-route to Leningrad) and I can't think of many countries in the world where this dirge would have been taken quite so seriously such is their lack of anything else
