Being pretty housebound these days I depend a lot on Facebook. I have it on my house computer but also on my iPad. I depend on my iPad when I’m at Mikes. A couple of days ago I got locked out of it on my iPad. On travelling home I found that it does still work on my computer so I’m scared to do anything that might lock me out of that, too. Annoyingly a friend who was trying to be helpful reported that my account had been hacked and now my iPad keeps asking for photo ID to allow me back on. I’ve done that several times but it still asks me to do another photo ( my god do I look awful in the photo which adds insult to injury).I had, until then, found a way of viewing my Facebook page in a roundabout sort of way. Now I’m completely blocked. I think I’ll have to call an engineer out next week to sort it. The trouble is when I first joined Facebook I used a now obsolete yahoo email address and didn’t give an alternative. Not sure what to do next. I get so frustrated at my lack of technical knowledge. My SIL who might be able to help is out of the country at the moment.

Can you still use Facebook on your Lap Top?
Can you remember your Facebook log in details?
On your iPad, are you using an App for Facebook or the main site from your browser?

Facebook can be a real pain to get back into if you have been hacked.

I can still use it on my home computer but not my iPad. They now seem to have banned me for life on my iPad. All the times I’ve reported racist or xenophobic comments to Facebook and they do nothing about it but I get in a mess with my passwords and I’m banned. I don’t think I was hacked but my friend contacted them to say they’d had a fraudulent friend request and that’s what caused the problem. I spend too much time on it anyway but do need messenger when I’m away from home.

Sorry, but I don't know how that could happen,
I would recommend carrying on as you are with your Lap Top. and remove the App from your iPad.

Don't beat yourself up about a lack of technical knowledge, I learn something every day.

I just woke up having what was almost a panic attack over it. I depended on it so much during the pandemic. Terrified that I’ll lose it on my computer, too. It’s my main way of contacting people. I’m so annoyed that they can make something that people get to depend on but can then take it away with no way of actually contacting them to resolve the problem. I think it’s mainly old people like me that use it, too.

It does not sound as though Facebook has banned you, it is more likely to be your iPad blocking access. Do you know any teenagers that might help you?
I was in hospital between April and July in 2020 and like you relied on it to keep in touch with friends.

I might be having a total knee replacement at some point which is another reason why I need to be able to have some sort of access to the outside world. I can access my Facebook page via Mikes so at least I can tell people that if they get a message from him it’s from me!
