Nearly at th fag end of the season now when results can go haywire ( if they are not haywire enough anyway) as horses go over the top and/or leap out of the doldrums to try and pay for some winter feed.
The St Leger looks wide open to me, but I doubt it will look like that at the winning post. O’Brien is mob handed with four runners and although Continuous is probably the best of them I have a sneaky feel for Tower of London who went down by a head to Castle Way
At Newmarket last time.He was heavily backed that day and would very likely have won if Ryan Moore hadn’t dropped his whip. He sticks with Continuous, though, but Jim Crowley is a solid enough replacement.
The Gosden’s are nearly as bad with three runners and it’s interesting that Detorri has stuck with Arrest (who will love it soft, but will carry “Frankie” money in the price) even though Gregory looks to have a good chance of reversing the form with Continuous. And then there’s Desert Hero who is not without a decent chance of providing a winner for the King. One to watch, really, but will have a nibble at Tower of London and Arrest just to sharpen the interest.
Other than that I have a two notebook horses:
Sunway - 1:50 - although the odds on Rosallion looks very tough opposition. Cover bet maybe.
Significantly - 2:25 - there was late money for him in the Stewards Cup,11/1 from 20/1, where he ran out of puff towards the end in the heavy ground finishing sixth. I reckon he’s well handicapped and worth an ew shot to six or seven places. Again, just for fun.
