Favourite "gaff tracks"

I'm basing this on how grim it is to do your stones there.

Depends on your definition of gaff I suppose but:

Plumpton and Bellewstown - plenty of other nice smaller venues but wouldn't call them gaff tracks as such.

Market Rasen, Kelso and Ripon are the best small tracks I've been to. Would add Windsor too if you can count that as a gaff track.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Fakenham, the nearest thing to a truly gaff track that we've got left. Only go up there when I have a runner, but never fail to enjoy the experience...the hospitality for winning connections is second to none.

Only ever been a P2P there Michael - really enjoyable day racing on the chase track with the full facilities, stands etc. in use.

Lovely track to watch on the TV too.

Quite surprised I'm the only one who's mentioned Ludlow.

Decent facilities, wonderful scenery, fascinating architecture and save for the paddock turn, terrific viewing.

Has nobody else been?

Hexham is god's racecourse though.

Nice Pies and Tea at Ludlow. Seems to be stuck in the 1930's. Hateful place to get to though from Cardiff.

Don't know about Gaff but Perth is my favourite course period.

Been to Hexam so many times and never not enjoyed it but I'm 50/50 about Kelso.

Love Cartmel, not so keen on Sedgefield

I remember going to Stratford. It must be at least 17 years ago. The town itself is something else and well worth the visit as is the course. It was the first time I laid eyes on Tony McCoy who one minute was doddling along round the middle of the leading pack when suddenly he shot to the front about 5 from home and they never saw the way he went.........I remember thinking what a stupid thing to do, he's gone way too soon Duh!!!

Had a real good time there and found everyone very friendly inside and outside the course

Had to edit this post got confused if anyone read the original one.

Bangor is the king of the gaffs. Lovely relaxed feel, maybe because there's no grandstand.

The only Irish gaff I've been to is Kilbeggan. It was Midlands Grand National day and, again, a cracking atmosphere.
