Festival Trials Day at Cheltenham and this week's weather prospects elsewhere

Claisse gets a lot of stick (unfairly imo), but he's always seems to be one step ahead of the weather. Apart from waterlogging they haven't lost a meeting due to frost/snow since they invested in the covers. 2013 was a perfect example, they managed to shift a hell of a lot of snow to get trials day on and then come the Festival, without the covers, I'm pretty sure the Tuesday and Wednesday would have been lost.

Claisse is a bumpkin.

It hardly required an act of genius to invest in frost-covers, which were being used liberally at other tracks too.

He is the embodiment of better being lucky than good.

Disagree, it's Skybet chase day at Doncaster the same day as trials days, they are a Grade 1 and classic track, yet have lost the same meeting several times in recent years,

The weather, rather than the CoC, generally decides if a meeting goes ahead or not.

f Doncaster's meetings could have been saved by so trivial a measure as deploying frost-covers, it makes their CoC an idiot - it doesn't make Claisse a genius.

With the recent cold weather threatening the prospects of Turf racing on Friday 23 January, the British Horseracing Authority has programmed an additional Jump fixture at Ayr Racecourse, in order to ensure a minimum of two afternoon fixtures on that day.

Looks a cracking card Sat. The wife and I will be there. Tempted by a large bet on Saphir de Rheu.

Smad Place gets fucktons of weight on Saturday from everything. 5/1 3 places, might be less than 8 runners. I'm on.

Is he a certain runner? Could end up a five or six runner race you'd think so 5/1 three places looks good i agree. It's hard to escape the notion that he is basically a disappointing animal though. Reminds me of another King horse whose name escapes me.

Underachieving trainer given the ammo he has had and not a very nice man either.

Halcon Genelardais, Benny?

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get from Dublin Airport to Leopardstown? Assume I don't want to shell-out for a cab, and will take a bus (or equivalent).

Trying to see if I can do trip there and back in one day, but don't want to go too berserk with the coin.

What makes you say King isn't a nice chap Benny?

First hand experience. Used to ride out at Jackdaws in my school hols when the Duke trained there. Kingy was assistant - always found him to be a shouty, mean spirited bastuerd.

Belay that request, shipmates.

The flights are booked after member Frontrunner made an heroic offer of a lift from/to Dublin airport. What a guy!! :)

Probably my last chance to see the Fly on home soil. Let's hope he fu*cks them all out of sight.

I'd be interested in Blaklion for the Cleeve at 16/1 e/w at the moment but on the assumption he won't Cole Harden looks a solid e/w bet to me at 9/1 currently. He'll turn up, his last run was very good form over an inadequate trip, a few of these won't turn up, he should have won his first two races this season, stable remains in good nick and I just can't see him out of the front three. He has a good chance of winning as well and won't be 9's on Saturday.
