Fireworks Should Not Be Sold To The Public!

The sooner those ghastly things are banned, the better. I hate them with a passion. They are partly responsible for the death of one of my cats a few years ago. I will tolerate organised displays (chose not to attend them though) but I find it so hard to accept that any Tom, Dick or Harry can walk into a shop and buy dangerous explosives :what:

Mr GG and the girls are off to the display at Faringdon House on Saturday and I'll stay at home and remember Meli (who died October 27th 2001) on my own :(

I'm not a fan of them, either - I've had too many distressed cats scurrying to hide under the nearest bed on bonfire night - or, for that matter, on any night within a fortnight either side!! As I type now, there are fireworks going off close by.

As for the gits who are responsible for the horse's death .... :angy: :angy:

I am enconsed safely in Sth County Dublin. Outside sounds like Baghdad. The animals must be driven out of their minds.

Let the punishment fit the crime.
Choose the place, and choose the time.
Buy the biggest from those who stock it,
And strap the bastards to a rocket.

I watched Prime Ministers Question Time on Wednesday and a Labour back bencher brought up the firework question and mentioned the Yorkie dog that had a firework tied to its leg and the human beings responsible fimed the resulting death.

When a total ban of fireworks was proposed, Mr Blair said he thought it would be a step too far, so the bored youth of today can still buy minor explosives each year and have their fun at anyones or any animals expense.

Why would it be a step too far ?
What is the definition of terrorism ? or does terrorising animals not count ?

The main mob that make them (astra I think) are owned by an arms manufacturing company who sold arms to the Khmer Rouge (I;m sure it was Pilger I heard this on). Brown envelopes to No 10 methinks.

Having seen the state our little Heinz gets into when the fireworks start, it certainly made me re-think the value of them. I'm not against public displays but I don't think they should be on sale to the general public.
