Flat dawn, but don’t forget the Jumps

Flatties rejoice, for today is the dawn. I suppose I must pay attention even though I will draw on the fagend of the jumps season until my lips burn - as, if past experience is a guide, will my betting account if I let it. So better prepare for the summer.

In that regard I am much more interested in the Brocklesby tomorrow than the Lincoln (will have some fun - I hope - with Majestic in that to set Jack Channon up in his new role as head boy). It’s looking to see how the two year olds perform that’ll start filling an empty notebook. The biggest concern is whether it will mean anything given the conditions, because if Doncaster has experienced rain like we have had to day it’s going to be a quagmire. My goldfish will soon be swimming on the terrace as their pond is overflowing.

Elsewhere, the first race at Stratford looks interesting. Jupiter Du Gite - 9/4 atm - was highly tried (and found wanting) at Cheltenham, but should be too strong for these if he can be held in check a bit this time. Opposed by Henderson’s Iberico Lord - 6/1 atm , though, who was bought by JP as something special. Has disappointed in two runs, so far, or is being brought on slowly depending on your point of view. Can’t be readily discounted, though. Once again the conditions may hold sway so I won’t b entering the fray until tomorrow.

Given the ground it was nice to see respected horses in the frame and Majestic ran well and put at bit in the coffers as did the saver on Iberico Lord. The less said about Jupiter Du Git the better until he stops shooting off like a rocket - found him out again and a 12 length third.
