Hughes and Moore seem to be both really going for it . Moore was 3 up and then Hughes rode six winners yesterday !

I struggle to remember when the contenders were on 30-27 before the end of April - this could be a Cauthen-Eddery, Breasley-Piggott like battle .

Moore has held his position despite Stoute yet to get going. Trainer responsible for most of his winners is Ed Dunlop with 4, Hannon responsible for 19 of Hughes' winners.

Stoute would appear to have been quite ill recently, according to Clare Balding in an interview with Teddy Grimthorpe yesterday. Grimthorpe confirmed it but said he's now on the mend.

This was mentioned today on Channel 4, in the light of Ryan Moore's 10 winners to Richard Hughes's 1 over the last week or so (though they've had a similar no. of winners in Sept) only for Hughes to ride a winner later on the card. 13 winners the difference and Hughes has a four day ban on the horizon, nice overround between the 2 bookies betting on it:

Hughes 1/4 (PP) or 1/12 (Hills)
Moore 5/2 (PP) or 6/1 (Hills)

Betfair Hughes 1.15 to back, 1.18 to lay
Moore 6.6 / 6.8.

The Hannon stable have obviously been going through a quiet spell and looking forward they'll be important to the Hughes challenge. Ryan Moore has a variety of backers and that could be crucial for momentum in the coming few weeks. I think the 6/1 with Hills is too big and is a decent trade if you're that way inclined, bound to trade shorter if he keeps up his recent good form.

Anyone watching this evening's racing at Kempton and know why Hughes gave up his last couple of rides?

Unlikely, he's riding anything to try and close out the title (10 booked tomorrow between Lingfield & Kempton) must be a reason, racingpost live reporter no use.

Well why end up missing 10 tomorrow if missing 2 tonight means you are refreshed and able to ride tomorrow ?

Hughes back with a winner today - looks like you will have to nobble him yourself to get paid on Moore !

Good to see the Forum's Victor Meldrew has found something to raise a smile at, at last!

Hughes indeed rides a winner, Moore rides 2 bringing his total this week to 6, compared to Hughes's 3, albeit Hughes has the stronger book of rides this evening.

Moore didn't make the inroads I'd hoped for in the last couple of weeks but if he keeps up 2 winners a day it'll be closer than the market currently suggests. Shame he'll be off to ride in the Melbourne Cup.
