Did anyone see Andrew Flintoff being intervied in Frankfurt before the England - Paraguay game yesterday.

He seemed very "relaxed" again.

Not that I have a problem with the man having a drink but I do find it surprising that he is prepared to be interviewed on national television whilst being in said condition.

Times have obviously changed.

I didn't see it but I get the impression the media have one law for footballers and another for other sports.

The Ashes-winning team were pretty plastered during their bus-top parade. No-one batted an eyelid at the rugby world champions having over-indulged. Yet can you imagine if a prominent English footballer (not involved in the team) had been interviewed while under the influence?

Allied to Sky's showing Shane Warne on the Hampshire balcony enjoying a cigarette, this hasn't been a great week for cricketers as a kids role model. But for us adults, at least it is reassuring to show these sporting greats are as human as the rest of us.

Totally agree Desert Orchid, many on here would be quick to play the, "all footballers are drunken thugs" card if Rooney and co enjoyed any post world cup celebrations.

There does seem to be a double standard in the media regarding this behaviour, they need to be consistent. If they are going to criticise people for being drunk then they should criticise all for doing it. However I think there is a difference between drunk and drunk and disorderly. If you are falling over drunk and making a tit of yourself then you are not being a role model and deserve to be slated in the media, if you are just drunk and behaving yourself then go for your life.

But the difference is, Flintoff is the England captain ;)

And that is why he should not have agreed to be interviewed.
