You mis-spelt "'Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch'" !
It should read: 'Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantysiliogogogoch' <_<
Aside>> I had always assumed that Antidisestablishmentarianism was the longest word in the English language, but I have ever been at a loss to understand its meaning. I presume it describes one who is against the removal of establishmentarianism ......... in other words in favour of Establishmentarianism. Hence, wouldn't the word ESTABLISHMENTARIANISM suffice? It is doing my poor 'ead in!
There was a decent gameshow on some years back - late afternoon - based on words and the above words listed by Merlin were regularly quoted as answers. Anyone remember what it was called?
Edit: Just googled a bit and remembered - Catchword with Paul Coia.
I used to like Call My Bluff which was run on similar lines - guessing which meaning out of the three read out for an obscure word was the correct one. I remember one occasion where they used the word "hypocaust" and I was amazed that I recognized it straightaway as the underfloor heating the Romans used - I was only about 14 at the time!
