Fontwell, Bangor, Punchestown - nixed

Ffos Las finally admit defeat - looked obvious it was going to be called off all week. Leopardstown is now in the same boat...must surely just be called off.

The NHS is unable to supply ambulances to Kempton (which says parts of it like the course, parade ring and horsewalk were okay - didn't mention how slippy its stands might be) and Lingfield. There's the usual numpty on the RP wailing about why do they rely on the NHS and not buy their own, or hire in two private ones? It costs thousands to hire in the NHS plus their driver and medics as it is - do these people actually think that losing a couple of meetings means you DIY? Jeez, are some folks ever desperate to gamble, or what!

It's baltic this evening. -7 in the midlands. -3 in Dublin. No racing for a while me thinks.

Saved by the sand this afternoon - and another good run by THE TATLING, now 75 years old and still going strong, was heart-warming, if not a lot else was!

The Leopardstown meeting has been rescheduled to run on the Saturday before the Irish Champion. Should be a great weekends racing.

I reckon Kempton will be on on Sat. It is defiantely milder today and although tom is supposed to be freezing again, picks up after that. Friday is back to average temp. They say the snow covering may have actually helped the chances of racing too

Plumpton is inspecting tomorrow ahead of Monday's fixture. It's been belting down with rain so, coupled with the heavy snow melt, it's likely to have beaten off the frost, only to become soggy boggy.

Surprise! Plumpton goes ahead, although I know it's going to be very, very holding, especially all round the railway bend before tackling the uphill finish. So, look to your Heavy specialists. Bright, cloudless and sunny today - if it's like that tomorrow, it won't affect the ground, but it'll make being there a darn sight nicer!

Looking forward to seeing Salden Licht in the opener, shame the good horses from the Beginners Chase ran yesterday at Ffos Las instead.
Just grateful we are racing again.

Hoping that Evella can do me a good favour in the 14:40 - trainers horses are in form, her penultimate run in a bumper came too quick for her and she showed promise on her hurdling debut last time out, added to her maiden point win/proven stamina and the trainers cracking record at Plumpton (7 wins from 33 runners) I think she'll be tough to beat.
