JDC no mate.. I Wish.... be nice if they were!! I get a weekly offers email as you can see, this one being for 13th March, and thought I would make it available to those that own horses etc etc

Just being helpful I suppose.....................

I've just sent the link to a couple of horse charities I belong to as they rely very much on public donations, and with some of these prices the donations could go a bit further. I am sure not all (if any) of the stuff is top quality and may only last a fraction of the time the branded items last but for the horse rugs, head collars etc I am sure they will do the job adequately.

Yeah no probs Merlin, I wasn't having a go. :)

I haven't been to Lidl's for a couple of years now, but I really enjoyed their German ham slices, and a superb potato salad, which was as good as any high-priced deli. The thing is, if you want some things which will do for a couple of seasons' use (say BBQ equipt, etc.) there's really no point in paying out monster dosh for it. Their cold weather scarves, gloves, etc., were absolutely fine, for a fraction of high street prices. Well worth a scull around if you get the chance, and aren't a label addict.

Everything that I have ever bought I have found as of very good value, my digital camera, my 19" LCD monitor, Set of ladders, household stuff, power drills garden stuff, and I call in once or twice a week to see the bargains.

Fruit and Veg @ half price when on offer, frozen prawns, frozen food in general is very good and half the price of Sainsburys, & Tesco etc general goods also cheap and domestic cleaning stuff too.

The clientele as now changed compared when they first opened rollers and merc's now occupy their car parks,(yes the drivers are doing shopping not just used as a car park) and people with hotels, fish shops(Pakistani owners), Chinese restaurants, all buying in bulk, traders and barrow boys buying up stuff/fruit and veg and selling it at double the price.
I use it along with KWIK SAVE, TESCO, ASDA, SAINSBURY'S and its a lot cheaper than these I can assure you..................... :P :D

Brian, I double-dare you to haul the Skoda over once, just once, and just give it a go... really, I can't believe there is snobbery about any mass market shopping! Harrods' deli is remarkably reasonable, I have found, and their tea-times are delightful. They also have a fabulous costume jewellery dept. with some superbly-made pieces for under £100.

Having been to one of these sales and spent a few pennies there are some really good items here.

The headcollars are spot on, cheap but really well made and cracking quality. The buckets, although a bit small are indestructable (i know this because my mare has iron teeth but she makes no headway with these!) Another item which i'd go for again is the mane and tail detangler. Having bought the expensive ones before i'd have to say this is actually by far the best, also the bottle is massive and lasts forever! Top notch.
As Trudij said the hats do not get safety approval and most riding schools refuse to allow them. Plus it always pays to get a hat fitted properly and that the right size is ensured. The hats advertised are only 'screw tightened' and very, very light. Anyways that's my waffle over....... happy spending! :D Oh nearly forgot, those pocket knifes are brill!

Soba, the best stuff to use as mane and tail detangler is a can of the silicon spray you get from garages for cars - the stuff that is used on dashboards and the likes to make them glossy. It's cheap and lasts forever as you don't need to put much on at all.

I'm an Old Mill Saddlery girl Irish, more in my neck of the woods. But thanks for the tip, i'll keep them in mind :)
If you're ever at Haydock it's just past the box entrance on the right next to The Bay Horse Pub and opposite St. Aelreds I think it is :)

My BTO money from haydock usually only lasts about 1 1/2 hours ( the race, wash down, walk round, run like hell down the road to Robinsons......) !!!

Shopping spree - got a hell of a lot of good stuff in there. I always end up buying useless stuff I don't need like DVD's - Pardubice and the Melbourne Cup on video is my latest one.

How do you explain to the staff at Robinson's that they need to be careful with the horse as he's just run 4th in a Grade 2?
