My heart sank when I read this drivel last night. The idea that somehow this will be like 20/20 cricket strikes me as nonsense.

48 £100,000 handicaps added across a short summer period it sounds like eight even more boring Shergar Cups !

I only scanned the article but since I don't understand F1 I wasn't sure what I was reading.

However, the Shergar Cup is no more than a PR stunt. All these £100k handicaps look like a bonus for people like me, especially if we get good ground or better for most of them.

Possibly, my concerns are the exclusivity of the concept how will smaller trainers and owners get access to the " teams" . Also this idea that somehow it will attract new racing fans I cannot see how this will if Cheltenham , the Classics, Roysl Ascot, the Ebor Meeting etc doesn't .

What impact might it have on the summer handicap programme ? Will the big summer handicaps leaving aside massive pots like the Ebor be undermined ?
