Apologies for the time the forum has been offline, it was a combination of things that caused it. I was away for the weekend, and only realised it was down when I got back Monday. Unfortunately the guys who run the hosting were away for a couple of days too.

If the forum was on a normal hosting plan it wouldn't have been a problem as I could have just gone in and paid for it niormally, however as we are on a special customised plan I needed an invoice raising manually.

This was done this afternoon and obviously we are now back.

I'll try to reply to all the emails I have had from members, but if I miss anyone, sorry, got over 2000 emails to go through.

FWIW if the hosting is down I cannot access emails either which is why no one has had a reply yet. If you like our facebook page, anything like this happens again I can keep in touch through there and let you know whats happening

Col

Great to see TH back - thanks for your efforts ensuring it wasn't down for long

Missed it, Col - any chance of a link to the facebook page, as I've had nil success in finding it?

Don't know what you've got until it's gone!

Any chance Desert Orchid could post up the winners he backed in the period it was down please?

This would result in a huge increase in data used by the site so I hear Col has limited the size of DO's next responses..

FWIW I have been exchanging pre-race thoughts and proposed bets with DO on a regular basis for several years. Whilst we normally have differing opinions the hit rate when we agree is substantially higher than my average to the extent that I almost routinely increase my stakes when we concur.

That will still count as aftertiming, TS.

i find it quite ironic Mo...you must be one of the few people i know who shares his findings away from the board..before racing...and yet get accused of after timing above anyone else...not sure how you can after time in those circumstances tbh

a pity all of the people you share with can't open their cakeholes like TS has,,,too much effort required to log in i wonder

A conspiracy theorist might think this was done on purpose to increase the forum's like number on Facebook. A figure that has gone up at least 20%

Mixed feelings about that, EC1. I suspect most of the time the others don't read the threads so aren't aware of it. I imagine one or two will prefer not to be seen to be taking sides. I understand that. I'm grateful that you and TS have spoken in my defence (as did Ardross elsewhere) but I suppose the bottom line is that those who know, know what's what.

I've admitted I've been guilty in the past of mixing up the attitudes on this forum with my circle of family and friends who are happy to congratulate each other after a good day or commiserate with each other after a bad one. I'm not in touch with them so much as to go into the specifics of what I bet and they are no more than recreational small-time punters so if they phone up about a family event and say 'how did you get on today?' I'll tell them. More often than not I'm telling them I didn't have a great day and vice versa but I get a genuine buzz out of knowing they've punted a winner.

A recent example: a verbatim text message received from my brother after Eclipse day...
"Took Mukhadram after our recent discussion. Also took Havana Beat"

The irony is that we hadn't actually discussed Mukhadram. We'd discussed the other Hamdan horse that ran badly in the Hardwicke (Ektihaam/l or whatever). We never touched on Havana Beat's race. I phoned him back to rip the p1sh out of his absentmindedness but was pleased he'd won.

As disappointing as any remark about [my] aftertiming, which in the big scheme of things is actually very rare, is seeing people I esteem actually condoning it, eg Colin's little smiley above. With friends like that I don't have my enemies to seek.

I really wouldn't worry about it anyway mate, there are certainly bigger crimes in life than a little aftertiming. Just smile and nod :)

DO, lighten up please, take things in the spirit that they were meant. You've just said you took the pish out of one of your relatives, I think I'm right in thinking that David's post was in that spirit; I know mine was.

If you found my smiley offensive please accept my apology.

He may constantly be covered in soot.....and whiff vaguely of leeks......but I genuinely beleive that there isn't a malicious bone in Colin Philips' body.

I would smile and nod if it was coming from family/friends with a smile/wink etc, 'cos I know them. It's very different on here, to the point that I think the accusers have mental issues of their own.

I'll take you at your word, Colin, but when you're on the receiving end of unwarranted abuse you get tetchy. I can see no need whatsover for dj's remark.

I'm just a little bit perplexed that someone's first post on the forum after the downtime (and for some time as far as I'm aware but I don't read all the threads) should be targeting me. I'm wondering why I would even be in his mind?? (That's what I mean about mental issues.)

Dessie's -FWIW I thought DJ's comment was fairly witty -you need to chill out a little bit.Clivex posted a video of himself on another thread knowing that smart remarks were sure to follow and to be fair he has just laughed them off.
