Just wondering, with virtually every company offering free bets, does anyone make use if them.

If you put, say £50 on a horse at Cheltenham then used your free bet for the same amount in another race....and had enough of them, you would surely need money for half the races with the other half "free"?

Or is there a catch??

I'm sure all firms will have a max payout on the free bet

The stake part of the free bet is not paid out if you are successful

Valid to new customers only so you can't have had an account with the company before

Not to mention the various rules about how much you have to turn over before you can withdraw the winnings from a free bet.

Have done in the past with mixed success, I have been told that you can open accounts with a new credit card and take advantage of them, but I've not tried it.

You will also need a new name; a new home address; a new date-of-birth; a different IP address ( if your current one is non-dynamic); and a new iesnare-free laptop with a new MAC address number.
Very careful how you go with this "gnoming" of betting accounts. It is strictly forbidden in the T&C's of all bookmakers, and if caught doing so you are liable to have any winnings AND your deposit forfeited.

I know someone who been depositing money into Bookmaker accounts without matching cardholder name to account holder name for years - successful withdrawals and depositing.

Me too... The year Zaynar won the Triumph I opened about 8 accounts and only ever used them once. I think I had four or five winners from them. Best Festival i ever had.

My missus will be taking up betting at cheltenham this year now you've reminded me about this!!! :ninja:

Some bookmaking firms are "partner friendly" but others are most definitely not; it is advisable to check a particular bookmaker's policy before you sign up under your wife's name.

A different address on its own is not enough to camouflage your identity from a bookmaker. They link date-of-births to names; it is highly unlikely that another Fred Finnegan with the exact same D.O.B will be creating a new account with the same bookmaker -- a red flag will be raised immediately. You could of course submit a "different" D.O.B with you new application but what happens if/when they ask you for proof of identity -- i.e. a driving licence with you correct D.O.B. on it !
If you have succeeded in jumping this hurdle, bookmakers have a couple of other traps in their armoury. The device you use to access the internet has its own unique identifier -- the MAC address -- which is recognisable to the bookmaker's servers. Finally there is the truly horrible little entity called "iesnare" which with 99.9% certainty has been implanted on your computer without your explicit permission if you have ever before visited a gambling or gaming website; and which tracks your online previous activity with that particular bookmaker or even other firms.
All-in-all, to successfully create a second account with a bookie you really do need to observe the warnings outlined in my post of 12:45 am .................. or have a very good friend who will allow you use his identity and bank account.

I wouldn't be doing a second account as I've never had them before...it would be one account with different bookies.

Is this permitted?

My sister had an amazing Cheltenham last year.I opened a few accounts in her name and things went well -if I recall correctly she got something like €800 for the use of her credit card.
Sister number 2 is being lined up for March.
A friend of mine has being doing it for years and has probably opened about 20 accounts with different bookmakers in various names.Boyles are the most likely to pull you up on an ip address and betfred are just awkward.
The first day of the festival is the best day for doing it but it takes a reasonable amount of planning with passwords and a clean email address.

Icebreaker, I'm not married so shouldn't be an issue. She's well within her rights to have a few bets for Cheltenham!!

Just had a look on easy odds and there a number of bookies I've not heard of, will be paying them a visit.

It's a goldmine Luke.

This worked for me last year big time.

Anyone know the answer to this:
We have a different Internet provider in Talk Talk
If my wife opens accounts with different cards is she entitled to the free bet offers re new accounts?

'Fraid not.
Free bets on sign-up bonus's are for the individual person not for each individual card.
Your wife's new account will easily be linked to her previous account via d.o.b., home address, etc etc.

I'll repeat what I posted on this thread in February last year:
